Wood Destroying Insects

AM.    Wood Destroying Insects                                                        


             House:  No active infestations found, 1 sistered beam
             Property: See Landscape section for carpenter ant damage to tree near house.

             The joists in the unfinished boiler room were sounded out to test for wood destroying insects (termites/carpenter ants).  There were no active infestations of wood-destroying insects found in the boiler room area.  There was one sistered beam in the boiler room above the hot water heater.  The owner stated that he witnessed a swarm of insects outside of the house in the described area.  He called an exterminator who treated the house, and sistered the basement beam.  The damage to this beam was found to be minimal.

             House:  No active infestations found, 2 sistered beams

           There are two locations where joists were attacked by termites:  near the electric panel and midway on that same wall.  The two locations have been treated and the 2 damaged beams have been sistered with newer lumber (1.5-inch wide lumber).A 6x6 beam with posts has been installed.

             House:  No infestations found

          The joists were sounded out to test for wood destroying insects (termites/carpenter ants).  There were no wood destroying insects found in the visible basement wood framing.  There were no termite mud tubes seen in the basement or along the foundation.
Environmental Concerns

Y.    Oil Fired Hot Water Heating System                                        

          Condition:
Suspected Abestos Insulation on boiler

          There is an insulating material covering the boiler jacket which is suspected of being
asbestos insulation.  Do not disturb this material.  It is recommended that this insulation be tested to confirm it as being asbestos.Should the material test positive.......


J.    Windows                                                                                   


          
Condition: Suspected Lead Based Paint on wood windows

         The wood windows, twelve of them mostly on the first floor in the front and side of the house, are in poor condition.  The paint on the outside of these windows is chipping and peeling heavily.......



X.    Fuel Oil Tank                                                                            


         Condition: Buried oil tank, not in use

          There is evidence of a buried fuel oil tank below the driveway slab.  It is believed that this tank is innactive since.......
