Types of Reports to Avoid
Buying a House
Some inspection companies use Carbon Copy Checklists written-up at the time of inspection.  We have found these reports to be poorly formatted, lacking proper description and explanation of the problems found, and offering inadequate solutions such as repair. These reports are simply unsatisfactory by our standard.

Other inspection companies will produce two or three pages of brief comments attached to a long
Boiler Plate.  The Boiler Plate is typically a preprinted document that describes each part of the house, and may explain what types of problems could be encountered.  The problem with this type of report is that it is not specific to your inspection except for the first few pages.

Certain inspection reports are filled with
trade jargon making them highly technical and difficult to understand.  Lastly, some other inspection companies will sometimes ask for additional fees to propose solutions for the problems found during the inspection.
